I have a question for the gurus here. I currently run Blueiris and a foscam 9831W. That cam is wired to an AP which is on my home network. I can see and record, everything works great.
I am considering buying an Amcrest 841 cam. I will be using it in another room, which is very near the computer, and far away from the AP.
I have a newer Asus MB (z97 Mk1) with a second Ethernet port, so I want to know, will I be able to just plug the 841 cam into that second Ethernet port on the computer itself, and have it work with blueiris as well? I'm wondering about any problems with the networking of that setup.
If not, I'm considering adding a second AP just for hooking a new cam (841) to use it as well, I know that the second AP is a whole 'nother routing/networking question, but I'm curious as to how to be able to use 1 of these two setups.
Thanks!

Re: IP2M 841 question on networking/setup..
Hello SandmanXX ,
You can have the camera plugged into computers Ethernet port and set it up on the computer. But this way , the camera will only work from that computer and not from anywhere else, because the network here is only between the camera and computer. If you want the camera to be accessible over the internet or local network, you need to set up a second access point.

I ended up using a second AP in another room to run the second cam, and it works great. Thanks.
