How to trigger a detection recording programmatically

Post by MX21 »

I have the Amcrest IP3M-943W. I installed it due to thefts from mailboxes in our area. The motion detection doesn't work well because the mailbox is right next to the street, so it triggers all the time from passing cars.

I have a sensor that I can read with my own custom program using wifi when the mailbox is opened. I'd like to use the Amcrest API to send a command to the camera when I detect the mailbox open. I'd like to trigger the camera to take a 30 second recording and send notification similar to a motion detection.

Is there a way to do this with the API?

Thanks,

I update the recording schedule to start/stop recording programmatically using:
url = 'http://YOURIP/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi ... imeSection['+ str(digitToday) + '][1]=1%20' +startTime + '-' + endTime

You are just setting a scheduled recording from basically now (time of trigger) to 30 seconds from now. The api needs the day of week and the start and stop times. In my script, I pull the current time from the camera, subtract 1 minute and set that as the start time, then add 1 minute and set that as the stop time. Specifications are on page 150 of the Amcrest HTTP API 2.12 version.
