Cannot access camera from amcrestview.com

Post by pkhande »

I am unable to get live feeds from my IPM2-841 camera through amcrestview.com. The website lists my camera, but has a red dot against it indicating that the device is offline. Interestingly enough, when I connect through the app on my iphone, I am able to get a live view feed. Anyone else run into this problem.

Another problem is that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to configure the stupid camera to send me notifications when it detects a motion. The support website suggests using different apps to configure the camera, none of which work.

Hello pkhande ,

For the device offline issue, ensure that you are using the correct username and password for the camera. The username and password for the amcrest view account and that for the camera is different. Amcrest view Pro app supports push notifications.

For setting up push notification, open the Amcrest View Pro app.For push notification, you should have the camera set up to detect motion. For this login to the camera from a PC and Go to Setup > Event > Motion Detect > Set the schedule for everyday.

The set up on the app is explained below.

Go to Menu > Push Notifications > Configuration> select the camera name, Enable the switch, select the Push type as 'live view' , select motion detect and check 'IPC'. Click on the save icon(floppy disk) on the top right. This should enable notifications for the camera.

This is exactly what makes the experience of dealing with Amcrest cameras so painful. From a pure usability and management perspective, why should i have to remember multiple user names and passworkds for multiple applications and cameras. The Amcrest Pro Surveillace, iOS App, Amcrest Cloud and EACH camera has its own independent username/password combo. I could set them all to the same thing, but what a massive pain in the neck.

Update: The username and password for the camera have been entered correctly. Still does not work.

Setting up push notifications did not work either - I tried testing email notifications from the Amcrest View Pro app on my Mac, and tested the email notification, which failed. No indication whatsoever why it would fail, and there's nothing on the forums or documentation that would help either.
