Hi I have a 720p 4 channel Amcrest DVR. I want to upgrade to an 8 channel DVR. The DVRs do not come with hard drives. How does that work? I buy a hard drive and just put it in? Plug and play? There isn't any software stored on the hard drive? Can I just pull the hard drive out of the 4 ch and put it in the 8 ch?
Second, have you upgraded the DVRs with low noise fans yet? The excessive noise on your DVRs is not something that should be happening in 2017.
Third,
Can I use 720p cameras on a 1080p DVR?

Re: 4 Channel DVR to 8 CH upgrade
Hello VJ5454,
You can get any compatible hard drive and use it. Its also possible to use the drive from the existing unit. No software is stored on the hard drive except for the recordings.
There are no replaceable fans on the units currently in sale.
Its not recommended to use 720p cameras on a 1080p DVR as the quality might suffer.
