AWS SES SMTP not working

I am using the exact same credentials on a Blue Iris server which works fine but when I try them on the camera itself the test message always fails. Are there character limits to the pw which is currently 40 characters long?
Also, very frustrating that I can't seem to paste in the PW. I have to manually type all 40 chars.
