I have IP2M-841 set up for web remote access using DDNS and port#. Works fine except for about once a month it will not connect anymore. The solution is to unplug/plug the camera and router and then good again. Would assigning a static ip to the camera help this?

Definitely. Also, use a HTTP port other than the default like 1500.
