Hello Folks, I'm assuming that one of Amcrest's people review these topics...

...for a security camera the 841 has a configuration completely backwards. There's a record "delay" (min 10 seconds) upon a motion event. Someone certainly must realize that the person that triggered the event could well be gone BEFORE the camera begins recording. Tested it myself. That configuration item should be like many other cameras --- the motion should trigger the camera to begin recording several seconds before the event. It's most likely a deal killer for me....

....other than that and the lack of recording to a network drive it's a very nice camera. Alas, back to Amazon.

Hello oldman,

The record delay in seconds specifies how long the recording will continue after the normal recording time.
There is another settings under 'Event' called 'Pre record' which enables recording prior to an event and you can specify the time in seconds.

Melvin,
I have an IP3M-956E which I'd think would have similar event settings to IP2M-841B, but I don't see a "Pre record" option.???

It's actually under Storage -> Record Control.

The setting is called Pre-event Record.

I'm new to the IP Camera, Amcrest arena, but I set it to record to my network storage using FTP. 2 out of 4 cameras are recording, trying to get the other 2 to record to the network also, but they're giving me a hard time. Point is, there is a way to record to network storage, which was one of my "requirements".

5 seconds max for pre-record seems a tad weak. :(
