I too would like an update to the firmware to support mp4 format for the IP2M-844E.

As a side note, I also have the ip2m-841 model, which now supports the mp4 format with the latest firmware. Why hasn't the 844 model been updated to support this? The camera is still sold on Amazon and other places online.

The dav format is EXTREMELY inconvenient as mobile devices do not support playback of the video captured.

Unfortunately there is no option for that at the moment other than using an online converter program. We are in the process of updating the device firmware that will enable recording videos in MP4 format.
So when are you fucking jackasses going to fix this in all of your cameras? I'm still waiting on a firmware for the ip2m-842e to enable mp4 recording.

PS. I fucking hate you. You fucktards give some of the shittiest support ever.

EASY fix......I just rename the .dav file to an .avi or .mp4
Working for me for a long time.

"I just rename the .dav file to an .avi or .mp3" ?? doesn't work for me. What media player do you then use? VLC just takes one look at the file and refuses to go any further.

Here are the steps I go through. After you make the recording, go to the file location, click on the downloaded file that was recorded, this will bring up the .dav file, rename the .dav extension only to either .avi or .mp4, it will give you a possible error warning but hit OK anyway. It will immediately change to a playable file (.avi or .mp4). Click on it and will play (at least on my WMP). Works for me anyway. Just tested it again just before I posted this. Good luck.

Wonderful. Nice to find that my christmas gift (IP2M-842E) is effectively useless. Given how old this thread is I suppose I should just toss it in the bin and go with a competitor. Glad I got one to test before buying my whole setup.

Thanks for nothing amcrest.

How to check which models support which file formats?

Specifically, does IP4M-1055E support anything other than DAV?
