Horrible software!!!!
Horrible software!!!!
Is it just me or is every pice of software that made by amcrest full of buggs? Espeacaily amcrestview.com the playback feature doent work and i constantly have issues with one camera that will not display any video. Amcrest really needs to focus on improving their software, frankly its just embarrassing that they cant put one solid application together. Instead they push out all of these smaller programs that are riddled with buggs and other problems that are seriously limiting the usefulness of their products. On top of the software issues they out source their costomer support to India so even when i do have to call them i can barely understand the rep and i know they are just reading off of a call sheet and have no clue about the inner workings of the products they are supposed to be supporting. Not once has calling the amcrest support staff helped me resolve any issues. Amcrest products look good on paper but do not preform well. They have good hardware but their software is seriously lacking.

It's crapware. I will never buy another Amcrest product, and I just use the camera to keep an eye on my dog

Re: Horrible software!!!!
if you are using windows, an option is to download the desktop software.
https://support.amcrest.com/hc/en-us/ar ... llance-Pro
i find it more functional than using the amcrestview.com. just my 2 cents.

If you want to see what that software (and all other Amcrest software I've tried) looks like on a 4K monitor, go to that page, press and hold the Ctrl key, then tap the minus/dash key 7 times (that should reduce zoom to "25%").amcrest168 wrote:if you are using windows, an option is to download the desktop software.

Buy your devs some 4K monitors and have them redo the UI so it's usable on 4K displays, too, please.
Thanks.

I use tinyCam on my android. The problem is the camera's firmware is buggy.

No, it's not just you. Amcrest does absolutely no QA and they consistently release garbage software that's riddled with bugs. And when they release a new firmware version to fix things, they break a slew of other things. It's a terrible, terrible company and I'm surprised support costs haven't bankrupted them (yet). So, no, it's not just you.

I'm quite happy with the (3) IP2M-841 cams I have been using for over a year. Stable and very functional. But I don't have 4K monitors, I'm just an average guy using pretty common/standard PCs (run of the mill Windows 10 /phone (iPhone 6s) / tablet (iPad Air 2). Everything works quite well and stable with the software provided for these platforms using these cameras, from my perspective. I also use the cloud service for all 3 and find that to be priced a little high but otherwise a great companion service. Maybe that is augmenting my experience in Amcrest's favor, dunno.... but no complaints here.
Re: Horrible software!!!!
I totally agree. I have been working for a week to get this whole package setup and every time I speak with one of the non-American tech support people, I get a different answer.
According to the tech guy, since I have a POE camera, I can only change the password on my camera by going into my router. He claims that it is secure since I have changed the password on my NVR, so no one should be able to see activity on my POE camera which is connected to my Linksys WRT1200AC router. Does anyone know if this is correct or not?
When I connect my POE camera directly to the router in order to see the IP address of the camera, no lights come on - not red, not green - nothing. Tech guy says I have to contact my ISP and get help - that's not going to work as Cox doesn't provide support for complicated stuff added on to their system.

Re: Horrible software!!!!
Maybe there are 3rd party software apps that work better with the cameras and NVRs. Does anyone know of any?
I have an NVR with a 1 TB hard drive built in and 4 POE bullet cameras (IP2M-843EB). Instructions are non-existant, and I get messages like "camera failed to connect" when scanning the bar code and trying to save it on my iphone7. Tech support says since it's a POE camera, I can't use the app to connect the camera (huh?) None of this makes sense. I like the features the camera and NVR say are available; I just can't make them work - and their tech support department is horrible.
