Hi,
I am the recent owner of an IP2M-841.
I like the quality of the 1080P, the ease of use, etc..
But only on the desktop webview (on windows, on linux there is video) because the android app Amcrest View Pro available on google play strore is useless, and therefore the camera itself.
I've bought this camera to keep an eye on my elderly father when I'm not at home, using my smartphone (oneplus one android 6.0.1 Cyanogen OS 13.1.2, no root and LTE carrier) to check if there is no problem with him.
I tried everything, install the app, uninstall it, delete the folder AmcrestViewPro_Log, reinstall the app, trying to connect with the wifi setup, the lan setup or the domain/ip adress, when I want to access the camera I always have the infamous message "failed to connect".
I have opened all the ports (TCP, udp and Rtsp, both for wifi and ethernet) of the camera on my routeur (I had a Foscam cam and I know how to configure my routeur) and I have a fixed IP adress. The last thing I haven't try is to use UPNP.
I add, that I also use the Tinyapp pro app and I can connect to the camera without any fuss (except that the PTZ is not handled with this camera it seems).
The camera has the substream enabled, my ISP provide me with a solid 1,5 mb/s upload, I use the wifi on 2.4 ghz.
One odd thing, is that if I don't enter the proper password, I have a response from the camera that the password is invalid. That let me think that my setup is definitly correct.
So far I've seen that I'm not the only with this cannot connect error, when can we expect that you correct this error so that the camera doesn't take the dust on a shelf ?
TIA for your concern and response.
Android App - cannot connect to cam ??
Re: Android App - cannot connect to cam ??
You have to be at your dad's house to set it up. In any event, I use tinCam Pro (and also have an 841) and it's better than anything out there. You can absolutely pan, tilt, and zoom with tinyCam Pro.
It's baffling to me why you can't set up the Amcrest app like every other one.

Hello Berlinois ,
When you can login to the cameras web interface please ensure that under setup > Video, the 'substream' is enabled.
When you set up port forwarding the Amcrest app uses TCP port where as Tinycam app needs both the http and rtsp ports.

Thanks for the answer. I only hope you forgive about my bad english.
I confirm that I can't use the PTZ with Tinyapp Pro (got it from amazon underground) either on acces with my phone on LTE or if I'm on my personnal network.
This is odd, but I thinklwe shouldn't pollute this thread. Better on MP.

FOr any particular reason, the substream wich I enabled and saved, was not checked.Melvin wrote:Hello Berlinois ,

I cheked it and saved, now the app works. Will see tomorrow if it'll be the case.
Thanks for your answer.

Hey Berlinois,
Read the second to last post in this thread to get Amcrest View to work. I stand corrected: https://amcrest.com/forum/technical-dis ... html#p7826

Re: Android App - cannot connect to cam ??
After checking everything, it seemed that the substream wasn't enabled. It was the first thing I had checked but the saving was not successful. Nos everything is fine, I can connect to the camera with my pht84a wrote:Hey Berlinois,

But with tinycam pro I can't use the PTZ for some reason. The version of the app is 7.4.2. the latest zone.
