Remote Cam Reboot w/o IP address

Post by lapink2000 »

Hi there,

I have an Amcrest ProHD IP2M-841B, which I can't access physically (it is in another country and the only person on site is an Alzheimer patient). I manage the cam via two iOS apps: AmcrestViewPro and AmcrestCloud, as well as via https://www.amcrestview.com/. I am using the serial number and the device credentials to connect to the cam. The cam is connected to wifi router by cable directly and the person on site doesn't know the login info nor has she technical skills to install and understand any apps locally.

The cam has recently stopped showing color (only black and white with night view on auto) and I would like to reboot it to see if it fixes the problem.

It appears that manual reboot is possible via cameras' web interface (Set up > System > Auto Maintain...), but I have no possibility to get its external IP for reasons explained above. Amcrest IP Config app doesn't seem to be an option for the same reasons.

Is there a way to reboot the cam from any app with only the S/N and camera credentials or is there a way to get the IP having the S/N?

Thanks,
KL

Hello lapink2000,

Unfortunately there is no app that allows you to reboot the camera. The only option is to login to the web interface which as you mentioned is not possible without setting up port forwarding in that location.

Thank you Melvin,

How about finding out its external IP having the S/N and login data? Does any web interface such as AmcrestCloud or AmcrestView expose the IP? I guess they should see it.

I can see the localhost IP shown at the top of the screen and MAC address in the devices list on AmcrestView.com, but not the external IP.

Or maybe there is a setting available that triggers reboot when changed?

Thanks,
KL
