Hi All,
I've given up hope that Amcrest will ever get it together and address the myriad issues everyone on this forum has experienced (multiple snapshot emails, plugin issues, cameras losing settings, etc.) and am going to replace all my outdoor cameras with cameras from another manufacturer.
Is anyone using a brand that they're happy with? I'm using multiple IP3M-943W 3-Megapixel outdoor cameras. I like the hardware build quality and the small form factor, so recommendations for cameras with similar size and build are very much appreciated.
Goodbye Amcrest
Re: Goodbye Amcrest
I found Amcrest after using Panasonic for 10 years and fighting the settings, port forwarding and whatnot. Half the time it would go down while we were on vacation. Then came Nest, but they wanted a significant fee for storage and there was no way to view or save from my local network. It went back right away. Amcrest has been the best solution yet for me. I have 3 of their IP2-841 cameras, all running flawlessly. The SD storage make for good event playback and easy saving to my PC. There is local viewing or through their free DDNS server. Surveillance Pro, although primitive, it works very well on my PC, iPhone and iPads. I've not been able to get it to work on my MacBook however. The program seems broken (that's what brings me to this forum). BTW: I'm using 2 of these indoor cameras outside in Colorado with no problems (temps below 0 degrees F). They are completely sheltered from moisture though. Now to find out what's going on with Surveillance Pro for Mac.

Melvin, I'm running 18R and the multiple snapshots per email doesn't work , though the bug fix doc said it was fixed in 15R. Does anyone out there in the real world see this work? I've used Comcast and Google SMTP servers, unencrypted and SSL.
Re: Goodbye Amcrest
Hello jjreynolds,
from the web interface of the camera, go to set up > Network > SMTP (Email), set the interval to 0 and try again.

Re: Goodbye Amcrest
Melvin, I've had the interval set to 0, and various anti-dithering values and the number of snapshots to 5, the max, in the Motion Event menu. BTW, I don't have an SD card installed, if that makes a difference. Thx
Re: Goodbye Amcrest
Hello jjreynolds ,
Please hard reset the camera and try again if that is possible as after firmware update hard reset is required for the camera to work with the new firmware properly.

Melvin, I did a reset to defaults and imported back my config settings which I saved with the previous version When I did that all my settings were restored except a few in the Network section that I had to manually set. Everything seems to work except snapshots per email and email throttling. Thx
