Hello,
I am planning on setting up my DVR in my basement and my household wifi router is on the second floor of my house. Running an ethernet cable up there would be a pain.
Is there any other way I can connect the DVR to the home network? Perhaps setting up a range extender in the basement and connecting the DVR to the range extender via ethernet?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: ways to access remote view
- Anything more then 1 camera i would run that cable.
- Range extenders work but with multiple cameras streaming video will create considerable traffic and unless very lucky you will be hit or miss, continuously. It will also even more of a trouble if you plan to access your DVR from outside your house on the road.
- Based on the quality of your electrical wiring in the house you might consider purchase of equipment that transfer network connectivity over electrical outlets. No magic, not very new tech either, they use different frequencies so can share the wiring. Ive used this before and it works but if i had the option id prefer cat6 ethernet cable.
an example product;
