PC-NVR Options Greyed Out

Post by jimhollister50 »

I've seen quite a few posts about the PC-NVR options being greyed out even though the PC-NVR device has been correctly added to the Devices list and is online. I also had this problem. Some of the posts I read mentioned that the problem was with the binding order of the network adapters. The Surveillance Pro software may be making assumptions about which network adapters are present on the PC and it binds to the wrong adapter if those assumptions aren't true.

In addition to my Wireless and Ethernet network adapters, I also have virtual adapters for virtual machines, for VPN, and for Npcap loopback. I tried changing the network adapter binding order in Windows to specify that my Ethernet adapter is first in the list but that didn't help. Then I disabled all of the network adapters except for my Ethernet adapter, deleted and re-added PC-NVR in the Devices list, and now I can access the PC-NVR options.

I can imagine that it's hard for Amcrest to diagnose this problem because whether it occurs or not depends on the configuration of the user's PC. If Surveillance Pro were to ask the user which network adapter to use when adding a Device then those of us with 'extra' network adapters could avoid this problem. Another option would be to default to the network adapter that Surveillance Pro thinks should be used but then display which adapter is being used in the Device properties and allow it to be changed by more advanced users.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum...

Crazy thing is I did the same removed all my Network and left only my Main Eth0 and even though I have green light it still didn't want to work... Oddly thought it was do to another software that I had installed with same PC-NVR just different Version form another company that did work. I just don't like software by others to have my Password. While I know it is on my local computer I don't know if it ever reaches out to the web and gives info that shouldn't be given...

Anyway I have it on another computer that I just use now for PC-Nvr and recording. Not that it is really needed seeing all footage is already on recorder, and also FTP and the Recorder is Also FTP lol plus extra records on the MSD on each camera lol. How many Backups do I need right? lol...

I wonder if I left in my Wifi when I tried again after removing all the other network data lol...

But yeah would be nice to have the Ability to Pick from a List of Adapters that are listed because I am sure there are some that have more then 1 Eth0 adpt that would like to use that system... Oh well do what we can with what we have lol...
Be Safe.
