motion detection ftp video are small

Post by pgkool »

I have setup my amcrest 722s wifi camera to record to ftp server during motion detection. However all it records are small ~30kb .dav files instead of one solid video. I read that it should be recording 30 second clips...these end up being fraction of a second clips. I dont want to have to piece together 1000's of clips after the fact just to watch a single 1 minute video.

Is there anyway to resolve this, I don't want to return this device, but it makes the motion detection feature quite useless.

The files are also stored in a hierarchy of dub directories...YYYY-MM-DD/001/dav/HH...really annoying and no easy way to search through all the videos to see which one has the motion you are looking for.

Thanks

Hello pgkool ,
The smaller clips might be due to low network bandwidth. You need to ensure that the upload bandwidth at the camera location is good. You could also try the Amcrest cloud free plan to see how that works for you.

Thanks Melvin, it cant be the bandwidth unless there is a limiting setting on the amcrest camera. My camera is hardwired on a gigE connection into my network, which has a hardwired NAS.

Is there anything I can look at in terms of logs to prove what you have mentioned?

I have the same issue.

I tried both wifi and hard wired and it didn't make a difference. I have 3 other cameras writing to the FTP server without issues. The FTP server is a dedicated NAS computer with nothing else running on it.

Hello webdoctors,

Please try a hard reset on that camera and reconfigure it and see if that works.
