Just setup an NV1104 today, connecting to 2 Insteon (Foscam) cameras.
- One camera is WiFi, the other is wired to my network.
- Both cameras running at 640x480.
- I set the manufacturer to Foscam in the NV1104 'camera' setting screen.
When I watch live video, there is a 5-10 second delay.
Q1) Is that typical?
Q2) Is there any way to improve?
Did a few comparisons:
- Watching live view on PC monitor connected to the NV1104 via VGA = 5-10 second delay
- Watching live view via browser pointed to NV1104 = 30 second or more delay
- Watching via web browser pointed to ip address of cameras = less than 1 second delay
If it matters, NV1104 did a FW update shortly after I connected it. (Build date 2016-04-27.) Before the FW update, I could not view the cameras at all.
NOTE- By 'delay', I mean the time it takes between when something moves in 'real life' and when I see it on the screen.

Update... I removed the two Insteon (Foscam) cameras and added two Amcrest IPM-721 cameras and the lag went away. If I add one of the Insteon cameras back, the lag returns almost immediately.

I now have 4 Amcrest IPM-721 cameras connected to the NV1104. 1 is wired, 3 are ethernet.
Immediately after a reboot, delay is about 1 second for each of the cameras.
However, after a day or so, I still get "- Watching live view on PC monitor connected to the NV1104 via VGA = 5-10 second delay" on one of the 3 wifi cameras.
Whenever I have time, I will swap out the hard drive in the NVR and give an update.
I now have 4 Amcrest IPM-721 cameras connected to the NV1104. 1 is wired, 3 are ethernet.
Immediately after a reboot, delay is about 1 second for each of the cameras.

Changing from a 7200rpm hard drive to an SSD did not make any difference... i.e. I still get a 5-10 delay on one of the cameras.
Dropping from 4 cameras to 3 cameras DID help. I ran with just 3 cameras for a week and most of the time the delay was 1-2 seconds. But when I add a 4th back, the delay returns. (I don't think I can blame the actual camera, as I played with different combinations. Ex: if my 4 cameras are ABCD, combinations ABC and ABD both worked well.)
So now my question is... will switching from the NV1104 to the NV1108 allow me to run 4 cameras without the 5-10 second lag?
