Cameras being named, Date Format Changing, support

Post by rgibson »

A Few Questions
1) In Amcrest Surveillance Pro (ASP for short) in devices you give your device a name. In device config you can give camera a channel a name. Yet in PC-NVR (Software) those same cameras are listed as CAM1, CAM2, Etc. Why and how to fix. :?

2) Cameras added to ASP, are assigned to the "Default Group", fair enough, but I have added additional groups. How to move or add a camera to anything other than "Default Group". :?

3) Why does the Date Time Format change back to YMD and 24hr from MDY and 12Hr. I have set those parameters countless times, yet they seem to change at random.

A tech from Amcrest was attempting to help with PC-NVR problems, he could not. I was told a senior tech would call back, never did, on my return call to them, they have no record of me calling at all. second tech only uninstalled and reinstalled.

I have two customers wanting 16 Camera systems, but these ASP and PC-NVR softwares are not fit for production as I see it. just try advancing video in playback, and only 8X fast forward.

Thanks for any help.

Your ASP Questions
1. Add CAM1,2,etc. to the relevant device names you created in Devices. Then go to Devices when you don't know what CAMx is on another screen.
2. Drag and drop a device from the Default Group to the New Group name.
3. I have not used ASP 12hr, but perhaps all your cameras are not set to 12hr.
To view greater than 8X, Export the recording(s) and view in Amcrest Smart Player at +/- up to 64X.

If you don't like ASP PC-NVR, you could try Blue Iris which also stores recordings on a PC, has a free trial, and is quite popular. http://blueirissoftware.com/

Jack7, thanks for the reply.
1. Not to be an ass, but really on the camera names. I can cook an egg on a shovel too, but that is not right is it.
2. Thanks for the tip on the groups I'll try that.
3. currently all five cameras have been set to 12h several times, but reboots, etc. of software ie. ASP resets to 24h.
or changing a setting in one location, seems to overwrite other settings in other locations.
4. viewing at >8x is odd because if it's doable in Smart Player, why not in ASP. same code doing same thing!?

It just drives me nuts when software is written to 90%, WHEN 100% IS RIGHT THERE!. I'm not talking new features, or "if it did this or that", I'm talking about those features that are already there but don't function, function incorrectly, or are just so not intuitive.

P.S. Found This on CAM Names in PC-NVR (Viewed on right in Live view only... 90%) right click on name and rename CAMx to "Whatever you like".. That makes naming a given camera 3 to 4 times. Device name, channel name, pc-nvr name... 90%.
Also, This morning ALL CAMERAS WERE 12h, now at 10:13AM, ALL cameras are 24H..... 90%. Renamed Cameras in PC-NVR, changed the time format???
